You underrate your skill. I would adjust the color temperature of the first shot a bit... It seems a little cold. Some simple lighting or bounced flash could have helped with the shadows on the children's heads.

Neither photo needs much editing. You can use Photoshop 's Shadow/Highlight command to lift the shadows in the first photo then warm it up a bit by adjusting the color temperature.

The second photo probably only needs a different crop and/or a vignette to hide the kid in the background and bring the attention to the infant.

What's on the little girl's front teeth?

Without knowing what you want to achieve with the finished image, it's difficult to advise what you need to do with regard to editing.

+1

The reds/purples are a bit too strong. I would also use an adjustment to even out the background a little.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

I love your images.

You'll need an image editor no matter how good you are.

No matter what you do, do NOT buy Photoshop unless you're willing to take a class to use it. Get Photoshop Express or any of the other consumer-based editors. Too many options and choices can frustrate you.

I used to use PhotoImpact for professional editing, and it cost less than the TAX you pay to buy Photoshop, and did more for my work than PS did...one-click color correction, fixed cropping sizes, layers, animation, etc.,...all things PS forgets to do easily.

After that I use spot remove or whatever its called to remove scars etc. after that I have no idea what to do. Thanks btw

I warmed it up some and noticed the big differance. Thanks again

She has silvers, cause she ate to much candy :( We couldn't see nothing wrong, but the dentist said she needed them. I warmed the picture up and messed with the shadow tool. Let me know what yall think

Are you sure you won't poke anyone's eyes out with those reds? Can't focus on the children when I have red in my face.

After you use the Shadow/Highlights tool you need to mask off the kids so the adjustment only affects the background. Right now everything is adjusted equally.

Added some warmth and selective sharpening. Just guessing at skin tones on these beautiful children.

thought I would give the second pic a shot. Not sure this is any better than your edit.
Decreased the contrast and brightness of the background. Blurred th background. Cropped the picture and cloned out he fingers.
