Yeah, but they started that naming scheme with the 10, not the 70 (only Nikon does that ;) ).

I'd bet on a 7D Mk II as an improvement. 8D is moving in the wrong direction, as smaller numbers mean 'better' cameras.

Correct. The 8D story was obviously written by NOINK who knows nothing of Canon camera culture.
