I prefer the second image the first on the highlights are blown out and there is a blueish purple on the right side of her head where it looks like you tried to make the background white but missed a part of it. Looks a little odd.

Are these straight out of the camera, or edited?
The images look too blown own in my opinion.

Depends on the look you were going for.

a 6 light set up?? where were all the lights? #2 is much better than the first....but even the second does not have the clarity/sharpness and "pop" i would be expecting.

I stand corrected. It was a 5 light set up. 2 lights metered at F16 for the background , Main light at camera right at F11, and 2 strip boxes behind the model. I agree with the blown out highlights, the instructor cranked the 2 strip box lights and I tried to save the highlights in PP. We didnt mess with the lights after they were set so I had no choice on their brightness unfortunatley :-( I tried to do a contrast PP thing for the 2nd shot and it didnt come out right. Thank you all for the comments!!
