Hi I am new to the forum, having joined after seeing a link to the creative sharpening howto on this site. I re-processed some of my favorite images using the techniques. I thought that I would share the results with you. All the photographs were taken using a Canon EOS 300D and either a Sigma 28-300mm lens or a Centon 500mm f8 Mirror lens.

I hope that you all enjoy them. I shall no doubt post some more of my aviation photos here in the near future.

Nice work. I absolutely love the last one. You don't usually see a square crop that works well, but the vertical column of smoke in the background really brings a sense of scale and movement into the shot that a 6x4 crop would lose.

The other thing that I thinks makes the square crop work is the Dimond 9 formation, which echoes the format nicely. I have used the square format as well as 16:9 for some others. I think that especially in the digital age, where often we are viewing images on the screen, we do not need to limit ourselves to the 3:2 format; using a crop ratio that compliments the compsistion is now much simpler.

I have checked the server, via both http and ftp, and the the server and files are both there. I have also checked the embeded links for errors and they all seem to be ok. I see the images ok on my computer, both in this site and at the host URL, using Vista and IE8. I have never known the server to be down in the 10 years that I have managed that website, but there is always a first time I suppose.
There is one other thing that may be causing an issue, some ISP's may have blocked the domain name in thier perental controls software as the main site is for a registered firearms dealer here in the UK. I know that it is sometimes a problem with some UK ISP's especially for those on mobile broadband, including on some occasions my own MBB provider. When ever I have run into this problem though it always says why the page is blocked.
I prefer to host my images on this server as I can pretty much do what I want with it, rather than having to muck around with Flicker or the like.
