Hey guys I have been looking into a decent circular polarizer for automotive photography. I was planning to purchase this:
http://www.amazon.com …TF8&qid=1293416333&sr=8-1 (external link)

I then ran into this item:
http://www.amazon.com …TF8&qid=1293418063&sr=8-2 (external link)

I can care less about the UV filter being crappy, but does anyone know if those two circular polarizer are identical?

It's not just Tiffen's UV filters that have a bad rep. It's pretty much all Tiffen filters. They've recently introduced a new line, the "Digital HT" ("High Transmission") which they say are better, but for some reason they don't list 77 mm as one of the available sizes. And I have no idea how much (if any) better they are than the regular Tiffens. Look for B+W MRC, Hoya S-HMC or HD, or Heliopan SH-PMC

The amazon dealers dont provide enough info. They really need to post all the details such as which specific filter they provide. Tiffen make a few ranges of products.
