Markins Q10 locked up at low temp (-15°C or below)? I found mine has this issue. I wonder if anybody else found this problem?

Bohdank's suggestion is probably the right one. Or just send an email to Markins and see what they have to say. They were good folks when I dealt with them for the purchase. I would drop them an email.

I can't manage to adjust the friction controll limiter with mittens, so the head is totally unusable in the winter.

Just tighten the main knob and the friction limiter will unstick. "I think the idea of art kills creativity" - Douglas Adams

Dec 11, 2012 07:03 | #13 Markins manuals now come with brief instructions on a ball cleaning routine that will "enhance trouble-free operation and prevent from getting moisture and freezing". Apparently a thin film of WD-40 on the ball is the key. ~Peter

I once got the thing so jammed that I had to abandon a shoot because I couldn't use the ball head. That's what made me buy the little lightweight screwdriver to keep in my bag. Maybe it didn't occur to me to try to tighten instead of loosen. I'll have to to try that and see if you're right! Photography by Erin Babnik

So the little screw is out of reach (without freezing my fingers). peter_n wrote in post #15352509 ![]() Markins manuals now come with brief instructions on a ball cleaning routine that will "enhance trouble-free operation and prevent from getting moisture and freezing". Apparently a thin film of WD-40 on the ball is the key. That doesn't work for me. The head doesn't work in the cold (when it is dark, and I really need a good tripod)
