I have the Canon 5D and it a few years old (minty)and I have only shoot 5014 pics with it. Since its in such nice condition I wondering if you would think its worth wild to sell the 5D to get the 5DII. For me Id do it no matter if Canon had improved on the number focus points, but even with the upgrade they have done, seem like it might be a good move.
What do you think?

What do you feel the 5D is lacking that you'll gain from upgrading to the 5dii? It seems like you have decent glass so normally I would say save for that but your ok there. I love my 5Dii and have never held a 5Dc before so my decision is a little biased ;)

As usual, it all depends on...

a) What type of photography you do
b) What type of final output you provide

If you do lots of small product studio shots for use in catalogs or online, then bypass the camera upgrade and use the money to get a selection of fast prime lenses.

If you shoot hi-end portraits that are enlarged to poster size, or low-light ambient photography (such as weddings/receptions) where higher ISO would really help, then upgrading your camera makes more sense.

To tell you the truth, only thing I would really like are more focus points, but it would be nice to have the upgrades they made to the 5DII, I even like the fact it have the sensor shaker to help clean the sensor and dust tracking.

I shoot mainly outdoor portraits, and some travel photography.

Sounds like you've made up your mind. :-)

If you aren't hurting for money, then keep the 5D for a backup and enjoy that new 5DmkII

I might be interested in your old 5D if you do switch, or maybe even a trade, I have a mint 5D mark II with probably around 300 shutter actuations.PM would be most appropriate to discuss, I'm in Calif. :)

hes already got FF.

I've never used a 5dc but just recently bought the 5dII and the IQ is fantastic. The high ISO is awesome and very usable as well.

5DII's sensor cleaning and dust delete were absolute necessities for me. I have to shoot in dusty situations a lot, so avoided the 5D Classic with it's reputation for being a dust magnet. It was already bad enough, trying to keep my 30D sensors clean. I went to two cameras, then three, so that I could avoid changing lenses as much as possible. 50D was the first real solution for that, with it's self cleaning sensor... which I quickly learned works well. So now it's 5DII and 7D. High ISO performance was another thing that sold me on the 5DII. I think its quite up to 6400, without needing to do major post production work.

Depending upon what I'm shooting, 5DII's AF is somewhere between pokey and adequate. Yes, Canon really should have improved the AF more when they revised the camera.

I have little doubt we'll see something closer to the 7D's AF system in the next 5D model. Hopefully the 7D's metering system, too. They can leave the 21MP sensor and frame rates alone, as far as I'm concerned. It also doesn't need a built in flash, IMO. It would be nice to see it get the electronic level and the active viewfinder of 7D, too. No doubt it will have a locking mode dial, the relocated off/on switch. An articulated LCD would be very cool, too! I'd really like to see bracketing expanded to more frames, say 5 or 7 or even 9... for HDR shooting.

Frankly, if you don't need more than just those items you mentioned, you might stick with the 5DC until the next version comes out.... Best guess is that will happen next Fall.

The sensor cleaning is a nice feature but I would only upgrade to the 5DII if you shoot a lot at high ISO, 1600/3200 and/or you make very large prints. Otherwise you are spending a lot of money for the shaker, back LCD, video and micro adjust. If any of those are important to you, do it. If not, I would not upgrade.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

Both the 5Dc and 5Dii have a 9pt AF. Mainly you'd be getting increase in mp, lcd will increase from 230k to 920k, auto sensor cleaning, and high ISO performance (which isn't too bad on the 5Dc).
