I'm consider this older Sigma zoom, as the price is pretty good.
Those of you who may have used this please feel free to give advice or criticism.
thanks.

The general view on the 170-500 was that it was not too bad, but some way short of the best in its class, hence the relatively low price on the secondhand market today. It lacks the sharpness and the image stabilisation of the newer 150-500OS. So it really boils down to how good a lens you want and how much you can afford, because with optics you really do get what you pay for. The best bet would be if you can give it a try before you buy, and check the results on your computer to see if you'd be happy with it. Mark.

I totally misread the thread title Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D
