Welcome th the forum. Nice colours, would like to have had the boat larger in the frame and maybe loose the trees on the l/h/s, but this is a personal thing. Keep on shooting .Did you know you have a sensor mark to the end of the trees (just above)

I shot this as a panorama, so I had to try out a few different ways to crop it to draw more attention to the boat. I'll try out a few more variations in the future (pretty much try what you suggested), but I don't want to lose the 'wide' feel to the image in the process though.

Sorry about the dust spot - I've fixed it now.

It's a lovely shot but I think to draw attention to the boat a tighter crop would work much better...

Have you seen this?

Thanks Martin - the picture you linked to is a fantastic angle. I should try a tighter crop, but I don't want it to be as tight as the picture you linked though because the 'feel' I want for this picture requires more of the golden foreground to be in the picture. I want it to be a picture of the landscape with a boat in it (as opposed to a picture of an abandoned boat) I hope I'm conveying myself properly.

Hey Alpha that's out in my neck of the woods. I shot the Point Reyes a few weeks ago. Nice sight and great location. I think you have the best POV of the ship since the side has a fairly barren white surface in the cabin that sucks up a lot of frame but has little of interest. Looks like a HDR print is this correct?

Thanks Martin.

Joe - it's not an HDR. I shot a bunch of images that I stitched into a panorama so that I could decide on the crop later. I increased the contrast a bit using the curves, added a bit of warmth and underexposed the skies a bit to compensate. Your neck of the woods is definitely very photogenic!

Thanks Alpha. Feel free to email me the next time you come out and I'll show or direct you some nice places to shoot.

I agree...crop and lose the buildings and bring the boat closer. I do like this shot a lot and the colors are great. Nice work.

Unless you have a really tall step ladder you will not get the same perspective by getting closer. You can crop the print to simulate getting closer. The boat is a lot taller than it looks.
