bw!bw!bw! hahahaha you're funny Omar...

I agree..mine is choking as well... after a couple of photos in LR... sometimes when you slide the sliders on the grad filter...it lags for about 3-5seconds before I could see the changes

I should just look at it in a positive manner... and be glad that I don't need to wait 30minutes just to finish applying sharpening like Omar does...oh how lucky I am :lol:

Yeah i mean geekbench is great to see the process power of your computer but it really doesnt take into account the video card. You could bench much higher in those which take it into account (which is great for gamers).

I know what you mean Steven. Sometimes Photoshop crashes on me

Its alright in one more week ill be zooming along. I might just do an annual upgrade if its worth it (usually its incremental and not worth it). Some are saying next years MBP will be a design change. If thats the case ill sell this one for about 1200 or so. Then pay the difference for the new version. If they dont redesign it then ill just keep mine :)

Schwaa? my graphics card doesnt factor into that, though i wish Lightroom supported Cuda though because my GTX460 would definately help ;)

Yeah thats why this is great to bench for say imaging and video rendering power. If your a gamer its not too much of an issue if you dont bench high here since your graphics card is as critical to your performance.

Speaking of support. I think thats why aperture runs better on mac than lightroom. I could very well be mistaken but aperture from what ive been told takes advatange of the cpu much more than lightroom. Have to look into that but it still wont make me switch. I love lightroom! :D

Here is the quote Kenji:

"These numbers also primarily reflect CPU/Memory performance and don't take into account differences in graphics hardware."

Totally understandable. It would have to be worth it. Who knows though. If a 5dmkIII is out then my money will go there instead :D

yay!! me I am totally not upgrading my camera... need some good glasses first (16-35mm and 70-200 VRII). I should never allow myself to be tempted just yet

then buy myself a good editing rig... then buy a teleconverter then just then should I start looking at a new camera.... by then I guess the D800 would already be a year old and cheap

Aperture uses the GPU for its processing quite substantially, I know this because when I bought my PowerMac G5 I figured i wouldnt need a great graphics card or anything since all i was doing was photo editing on it...

And at first, i was right, then they built in GPU acceleration into Aperture and a bunch of other Apple programs....and started favoring x86 code...My G5 ended up going from a speed demon to..well an absolute slug very very fast....

Aperture was a great program, you should give it a try, I liked it more than Lightroom and only went to Lightroom in the first place because of the GPU-based nature of Aperture meant it barely ran on my G5

As for gaming performance, my system still is a slug because my processor lacks absolute clockspeed (since games generally dont use more than 2 cores) and cant feed my graphics card fast enough...
