Hehehe.....I couldn't resist testing out GeekBench with my system. The trial version (free) only tests 32 bit, where as my system is actually 64 bit. Still, I like the score it gave me.......7715  :D

Haha Alex... you noticed?

not everyday...but every chance I get I eat pancakes... :D so yeah

when I am travelling...I always try to order pancakes during breakfast and Carbonara during lunch or dinner... just to see if they are any good and then order something exotic or special to that place

So pancakes and carbonara are your benchmarks for if the place is good? You must have a pretty big appetite to be able to eat up these and the exotic dish after! :)

yay!! me I am totally not upgrading my camera... need some good glasses first (16-35mm and 70-200 VRII). I should never allow myself to be tempted just yet

then buy myself a good editing rig... then buy a teleconverter then just then should I start looking at a new camera.... by then I guess the D800 would already be a year old and cheap

We will tempt you Steven We will

But all seriousness you have a good game plan. Your already on FF with the D700 which is a very good camera so i can understand the no need there. :D

Aperture uses the GPU for its processing quite substantially, I know this because when I bought my PowerMac G5 I figured i wouldnt need a great graphics card or anything since all i was doing was photo editing on it...

And at first, i was right, then they built in GPU acceleration into Aperture and a bunch of other Apple programs....and started favoring x86 code...My G5 ended up going from a speed demon to..well an absolute slug very very fast....

Aperture was a great program, you should give it a try, I liked it more than Lightroom and only went to Lightroom in the first place because of the GPU-based nature of Aperture meant it barely ran on my G5

As for gaming performance, my system still is a slug because my processor lacks absolute clockspeed (since games generally dont use more than 2 cores) and cant feed my graphics card fast enough...

Yeah ill give it a look and see if its worth it. My friend uses it on his mac. He tried out lightroom and didnt like how it ran so he switched over to aperture. Hmm might give it a look but i love LightRoom so who knows. Im really looking forward to using final cut pro :D

Damm but you can at least run them! I would be lucky to run anything on low settings

haha true... D700 is very good already... its my skills that needs upgrading man..

btw, Omar the integration of LR and CS is very nice that I don't think it can be matched by Aperture at all... the way we click EDIT IN CS5 then bring it back to LR after we are finished is just phenomenal

Yup more shooting and more shooting! FYI i just got kenko tubes yesterday. Took my first shot with them of my watch. Tough getting that focus lock!

Yes i love the integration and nice play of lightroom with PS. I believe aperture can do it as well if im not mistaken. Not sure though would have to ask my friend.

I just do the real simple stuff on gimp. Other than that, I haven't got a clue how to do things on it, or on PS.

99% of my stuff is done in LR anyhow, so I don't really use Gimp unless I am adding in some fake T/S effects or anything.
