I just do the real simple stuff on gimp. Other than that, I haven't got a clue how to do things on it, or on PS.

99% of my stuff is done in LR anyhow, so I don't really use Gimp unless I am adding in some fake T/S effects or anything.

currently... about 60-70% of what I do in CS5 is cloning... then the rest is sharpening... unless I am processing some crappy IR shots

but only about 10% of my photos ever reach CS5 as well.... the rest just stays in LR:lol:

All my noise reduction and sharpening goes through CS4. I can control it much better than in LR. Everything else i do in LR: WB corrections, Color Corrections, distortion correction etc etc. :D

damn!!! so how much does your rig costs?

Well, its not a cheap rig. I spent about $2600.00 (CAN) on everything and then built it myself. The main parts of my system consist of the following:

-Coolermaster HAF 932 full tower case
-Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 mother board with USB3, SATA3
-AMD Phenom II 1090T x6 3.2GHz
-8GB dual channel DDR3 RAM (upgradeable to 16)
-Gigabyte HD 5830 videocard with 1GB GDDR5 RAM (room for a second card)
-Coolermaster SilentProGold 1000W power supply
-Coolermaster C300 128GB SATA3 SSD drive for programs
-Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA3 HDD for storage
-Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
-ASUS 25.5" widescreen monitor (1920x1200 native resolution)
-other goodies like blue-ray drive, and other tid bits

I'm tempted to spend the $13.00 and get the full version of GeekBench just to see what I would get on the 64bit test.

gotta love your set up Geoff... wish I could build one myself :D

how ironic though, that Omar's new MBP which costs about $2,000 scored almost 10,000 points'...

to be honest, I think the new MBP's are not overpriced at all since they are quad cores... similar spec'd laptops should be in the same price range as well I think...

LOL.....All thanks to the awsome case. Oh ya, I forgot to mention that I'm using a Noctua NH-C12P SE14 140mm SSO CPU cooler....Its a beast. All in all, my sytem only makes around 20db of sound or so, plus temperature wise, I have yet to see it go over 22C! :D  If you check out the case and to CPU heatsink and fan you'll know why for the most part.
