The white dropper defaults to 255.255.255. I would set it lower, maybe 242.242.242. The bread could also use some sharpening.

In either levels or curves, there are three droppers. The white one sets white point and defaults to 255.255.255.
Double-click the dropper and a color picker will open. Change the brightness value to 95%. That'll make the RGB values 242.242.242.

Click OK to close the color picker, then click the white dropper on the background above the bread.

Thanks peano---you are being very helpful! If you don't mind another question tho :)

How do I keep the bread from getting to light when I use this color picker?

If you use 95% brightness on the highlight dropper, you'll only get a little clipping (mostly in the red channel) on the bread. If you want to avoid even that, select the background, then open the curves layer and click the dropper. The selection will automatically create a mask on the adjustment layer when you open it. (By the way, always use adjustment layers for this kind of adjustment; never work on image pixels).

After you do the background, use the same mask inverted on another curves layer. That will mask out the background so you're only adjusting the curve on the bread.

If you're not up on adjustment layers, masks, color correction techniques, etc., then you should check some place like www.lynda.com (external link) or www.kelbytraining.com (external link) for tutorials.
