And yes, that was the line.

I could do a manual sensor clean and my firmware at this point is 2.0.8.

DetlevCM, I'm sorry if that caused you trouble, but I appreciate you looking at it. Now you said it may be a light source, but this is in every picture and video that I've taken thus far in different lights.

Luckily, I just got it within the last month so I could probably get a new body within that time period. Or if I have insurance, that should be able to fix the body or at least give me a new one, no? Thanks.

Well, good to know I did spot what you mean :D

Well, if it's in every image it can't be a light source. In my case the light source has to be to the left - sometimes even just out of the frame - but I've only seen it on 3 shots I've done so far => not the same, I'm certain.

If it occurs in images & video no matter what conditions, then speak to Canon as it's not normal.
If it only occurs in special conditions it could be something as simple as a codec implementation flaw etc.

Unless I am mistaken the 24-105 has a USM ring motor that allows full time manual focus - i.e. even on autofocus you can full time manual focus without breaking the lense.

You can definitely do it on the 24-70 & 70-200 :)
The manual for the lens will also state that.

Just a note to others reading this: Other lenses that have micro motors as opposed to the Ring USM, like 50 1.8 so many of us have, can be damaged by doing manual focus while the lens is set to Auto. You will know if the lens only focuses with significant resistance, if the lens seems like it is fighting back, turn off auto focus. USM lenses are fine either way.

Hey everyone,

I went into the store. They said they've never seen anything like that before and since I was under warranty, I received brand new lens and camera body. Not too shabby.
