Ok I have some trouble setting my WFT up to transfer to my ftp server. Connection to wireless network works fine. I can run EOS Utility remote mode and in webserver mode.

I can also connect and send to a ftp server I have running within the local network.

But as soon as I try to connect to my regular ftpserver on my webhost I get error 99, other error. I am using the exact same userid/password as when I logon to the same ftpserver with a normal ftp client. So I am positive userid/password is correct. I have tried both passive and non passive mode, I have tried with and without dns server, with dns name and with ip. And I cannot see any login attempts on the ftpserver.

Anybody have any tips?

Hmm are there no members that use these transmitters ?

Well more testing done and I have found out that I can connect to other ftp servers on the internet so there must be a setting on my on ftp server preventing connection. So I sent a mail to my host and hoping they can make some changes on my ftp server so I can connect.

If anybody have any ideas as to what kind of settings on the ftpserver that can prevent connection please let me know.

I remember having problem with the wft 1 on my 1dmkII, I found the problem by sniffing the network (with Wireshark) to look exactly where it was. If I remember correctly, the Canon engineers were not fully implementing the ftp protocol and there was an issue with the root folder assignment.

So far with the wft-2 I never had an issue, but I'm only uploading to my LAN NAS ftp server.

I would suggest you look at the protocol exchange between your wft and the ftp server to see what error is returned to try to debug it more efficiently. Wireshark will go a long way to help you there.

I tried wireshark but I am not really good at understanding all the packets but I did notice that the camera sends out a broadcast "who has x.x.x.x" but there is no reponse back to the camera so I guess thats why it cannot connect. But pinging the ip adress and connecting with a normal client works fine.

Ditto ...

I use mine to upload onto a local FTP server on my LAN and no problems. Interesting to note the full path issue. I just checked mine and the path is fully qualified anyway.

Now I think the issue was as follow with the WFT-E1.

I had a folder assigned on my ftp server for the WFT-E1 with read/write rights.
I configured the WFT-E1 for this folder. However when the WFT-E1 was connecting to the ftp server, before asking to move to the assigned folder, the WFT-E1 was trying to read/write from the server root folder where it did not had any rights and failed the connection.

The only option to make it work was either to grant all access rights to the root ftp server folder, or if your ftp server was capable of it (many embedded ftp servers were not), to assign a root folder that was account dependent.

An update on this. I gave up making the WFT connect to my ftp server :-(

Today I received an Eye-Fi SD card. Setup wireless networks both my home router and my HTC Desire HD. Put the card in 1D3 set it up to shoot raw on card 1 and small jpeg on card 2. Shoot. A few minutes later the photos was either on my facebook, smugmug or even my ftp server. Yes my ftp server so it seems that the WFT is not compatible with all ftp servers :-(

I noticed some said above that they shoot against a LAN NAS FTP. Has anyone managed to get a Canon WFT to log on to the built-in FTP server in a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+? I tried a little, but it didn't want to work. Works fine against the FTP inside Windows XP Pro, so the grip can do it in some cases.
