would also love advice on this one of my parents' tree...

an old family friend (who passed away years ago) made a ton of these ornaments for us that we've had on the tree since I was a kid.

My eyes in picture 1 are drawn to the lamppost, but the forus is on the tree/berries. It seems to confuse me as to the focal point.

Pic 2 i like much more, attention is drawn to the ornament.

That all depends. What were you trying to emphasize with the picture? If you had intended on the lamp to be the subject of the picture then yes. I assume though that since the focus is on the tree...the tree was what your intentions were. Focus is usually on the subject.

The tree looks nice but may have worked better with just a few berries isolated against the snow.

#1 - if the berries are your focus point they should be sharp and cover much more of the frame. I agree with corkneyfonz.

#2 - looks OK, there is just a lot going on in the frame - looks very busy.

correct...I wanted the berries to be the focus.
