Cold winter in Chicago, but never stopped us from heading out to try out the new 7D with the Sigma 24-70 HSM we got recently. Any comments are welcome.

#1 would have benefited from some fill flash ...

In both shots you seem to cut off the feet but leave empty space on top of the images.
#2 also seems to need white balance corrections.

Yes. If #1 is a full frame 7D, you could easily crop it this much and still have a decent image.

The second one is my preference, However, the missing feet portions in both are just a tiny wee bit irritating.

Move those focus points for your portrait mode shots - the 7D will let you select different points for landscape/portrait - they really help get the subject fully into the frame.

Peano - you are a magician with photoshop. Very nice edit.

Full frame 7D? I thought the 7D was APS-C?

I think he meant that if the posted image was the full frame from a 7D it could easily be cropped since he has 18 meg to work with. That's exactly why I bought a 7D.

Thanks all, great input, have to admit, when taking didn't realized the missing feet portion, still trying to develop composition. Am still learning through the 7D user manual on all the features and difference. Great advices from all, really appreciate it.

I really like that second (cab) shot just the way it is. Feet don't bother me one bit. Didn't even notice it. The DOF is perfect to create depth and dimension. The shutter speed is nice in that it shows just the right amount of action and is emphasized by the fact the subject moved less. The overall warm tone is nice. Great shot.

This is what I did, I just played around with the tones and created a vintage feel.

Nice shots. The focus seems a little soft though.

look a little soft, If they are make sure you're stroking the shutter and not jabbing. flash on the first would be good, it will make your SUBJECT(not yelling) be the subject.

Canon "Snappy".... Thanks Mom and Dad!

That's my bus stop! :)

I really like the second one, but I agree with Axxis.. Seems a tad soft.. not sure if that's from the lens wide-open, PP, or what.. I definitely would've gone at least ISO 1600 and maybe f/4 - 5.6..
