Canon's website claims that the G12 can shoot 4.2 fps in low light mode. I didn't time it specifically but yes, it does seem something like that when I tried mine. Low light mode shoots in 1824 x 1368 and favours high ISO. So I flipped the camera to AV mode to try to mimic the same thing. I used a resolution of M2 (1600 x 1200) and cranked ISO to 3200. When I do this, why is it that continuous shoots at such a paltry rate? It must be something like 1-1.5 fps. Is Canon deliberately crippling the other modes or is there something else special about low light mode?
