Photoshop CS5 not recognizing my Sigma 50mm

I've noticed that when I use my Sigma 50mm f/1.4, Photoshop does not correctly recognize the lens in the resulting RAW files from my 5D.

For example, when I go into the "lens correction" menu, Photoshop suggests a lens profile for the Canon 50mm f/1.8. When I use the drop-down menu to find my lens, I can't find an entry for the Sigma 50mm f/1.4.

The closest listing I see is simply "50mm", but I don't know if that's referring to the Sigma 50mm f/1.4, the Sigma 50mm f/2.8 Macro, or another 50mm lens from another manufacturer. I have updated my Photoshop and Camera RAW, but the situation has not changed.

Can someone please clarify how I can find the correct profile for the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 HSM?

Have you updated Photoshop recently? As far as I know Sigma provided lens profiles for all its lenses to Adobe and they are included the most recent Adobe Camera Raw update (version 6.3).

So the first thing I'd do is update Camera Raw by going to Adobe Bridge and clicking Help > Updates and allowing the Adobe Updater to run and install all the updates it finds.

Secondly, you can install the standalone Adobe Profile Downloader. I can't recall if its automatically installed with the ACR 6.3 update (its an AIR app) but you can also download it directly and install it: http://labs.adobe.com …/lensprofile_cr​eator.html
Then run it and download the lens profiles you need.

Ah, you're right. Camera Raw 6.3 does correctly detect the lens, but for some reason the "Lens Correction" menu in Photoshop CS5 doesn't. Both have been updated to their newest versions, so I wonder why there's still a discrepancy there.

Off topic, but OP, do you drive a GT2?
