OK you had to see old Popeye cartoons from the 50s to get the title...

Old PC config
C: Seagate 1TB drive
D: Seagate 1 TB drive
E: DVD drive

New config
C: OCZ 120GB Vertex II that was cloned from old C...after I moved all of my /user folders to a USB drive
D: DVD drive (it moved up in letters as the individual ATA connectors come before the RAID connectors)
E: RAID 0 pairing of the two Seagate 1TB drives.

It boots much faster. No, I did not measure the delta. ;) Applications such as Outlook 2010 and LR3 open quicker. Have not tried an LR import to see if there is any appreciable difference.

Now to do the wife's PC. Better not screw up that machine!!!!;)

In the spring when motherboards with USB 3 headers are available, I will swap out the boards for ones with SATA III controllers and USB 3 headers. I will also swap out the HDs for 2TB SATA III compliant drives. That should jump up the perforance, not to mention the space. I will also likely go from a 4 core to 6 core processor. By then maybe we will also start to see USB 3 UDMA card readers from Sandisk, Lexar..etc.

Technology for PCs, just like cameras, keeps on evolving. Its a good thing. ;)
