I'm trying to email some pictures of my new daughter. They are almost straight converts out of camera, roughly 10.2 mb. File size on my email account is limited to 2 mb. I've tried to use the email function in the pictures folder of my computer but that uses MS Outlook, which I don't use.

Somebody tell me how to do this, please. I know it has to be easy but I just can't figure it out.

Check the Post Processing Section of POTN for some help. You have not mentioned what processing software you are using, which would be helpful...Photoshop, Lightroom, Gimp, DPP

There are a lot of variables, such as:
What software you have, your knowledge level, the intended use of the photos by the recipient (Do they want to print them, or just ooh & ahh?) and how big the image was to start with.
Basically, 10MB is way too big for email. You can send a jpeg that's much less than 1MB and it'll be plenty good enough for viewing on the monitor. So, generally speaking, if you size it to, say, 600x800 at 100ppi & quality about 8, that's going to be good enough for email and small enough that it'll send easily.

As stated above, unless you need to send that big of a JPEG because they are going to be printed at a very large size, the easiest way is to reduce the size of the JPEG. If you really do need to send that large a file via email, there are ways you can do that as well but is that what you need to do?

Another option is to set up a free Windows Live SkyDrive account. You get 25 GB of free storage. You can upload photos (or videos, or documents, or whatever -- only limit is max 80 MB for any individual file) then send recipients a link.

I would much rather get an E-mail with one line of text than many tens of MB of attachments. ;)

Oh, yeah -- also a great place to host photos (even big RAW files) and then link to them when you post to POTN.
