The other day when I was out looking for finches I ran into this immature male Darter/snake bird. He was calling at the time (if you look at the lower part of his beak and the air in it's neck) and I don't know if you have heard these birds but they make like a clicking noice and then cackle like a witch.

Also a shot later in the day when I saw it in flight, it spent quite some time circling enjoying high thermals. Sorry for the quality of these captures, not the best of shots but a wonderful bird and thought I'd still share it.

The first shot is gorgeous - for an anhinga. :-)

Man, they make cormorants look downright modern. The flight shot looks like a close relative of the pterodactyl.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

Wing tips look like Eagle but I guess all thermal soarers have similar wing tips

This shot could go into a birding book it gives such clear detail and color. Excellent capture.
