When the switch is on, the IMAGE EDITING OK appears. When it is not, there is nothing.

I would propose that instead of nothing, the message IMAGE EDITING NOT OK be displayed. Perhaps even in red.

If not a configuration option in vBulletin, consider it a suggestion for Pekka's new app.

I disagree.

Its better that the text is there only when allowed. Consider the fact that the two texts only differ with the word "NOT" so it would be extremely easy for people to overlook the important "NOT" in the text.

I assume you suggest this because you think members do not respect the setting? If thats the case then please report the posts so we can either remove the edited photos or the OP can turn on editing allowed.

(It has already been taken care of.)

I don't think it's a lack of respect. I think that many people are not familiar with the policy just as they are unaware of other POTN policies. Sometimes you just have to be literal with people plainly spell things out for them. If you leave room for assumptions, they will be made.

But we do not see many violations of this setting so it can't be a huge issue.

To their credit, many users might handle it themselves like I did and I have also seen users remind other users within the thread itself. This is good news because it's less work for mods. I'm sure you would agree that a self-policing community would be the utopian mod paradise. :) It was just a suggestion. Have a good holiday.

There are a lot of policies on here that are ignored, whether intentional or unintentional. Personally, I think that before anyone can make their first post, all policy threads have to be read, but I don't think there is a way to enforce that. There will always be people who think rules don't apply to them.

What about having everyone pass a quiz on all the rules before they are allowed to post? I am only half joking.

Then we'd have to grade them . . . plus keeping the tests current.

We have thought about a "POTN Rules for Dummies" though . . . :{)#
