Not sure if anyone is interested, but I have my hands on Canon's new line-up and the 20D successor will be called the 20Da. I'm not familiar with the 20D so couldn't tell you what the improvements are, but I have all the tech specs in front of me if someone has a question.

All apologies if this is "old news" - I just dont recall seeing it on here before.

Is it FF? How many MP? Why not just post what you have? Where did you get the information?

Hi cdesperado - sorry but the 20Da isn't the successor to the 20D. It is an alternative version of the 20D that first went on sale in Japan (early this year). It is aimed at astrophotographers. There's a review at http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=6982 (external link).

This is a Canon catalog I got from a Canon rep. (They have some cool new lenses too).

It is not FF - 1.6 crop (the same as 20D, I think?) and has 8.25 MP

There is a footnote at the bottom that reads as follows:
"The EOS 20D and 20Da are basically identical except for the following:

1. The low pass filter is modified to increase the transmission of the Hydrogen-Alpha wavelength (656 nanometers) by 250%. This improves the appearance of reddish diffuse nebulae without extra filters.

2. The Live View function displays a live image on the LCD monitor at the user's choice of 5x or 10x magnification for easier manual focusing during astrophotography.

3. The CMOS control system has been optimized for long exposure noise reduction during astrophotography.

4. The secondary reflex mirror is partially cut off to minimize vignetting when the camera is mounted to an astronomical telescope.

I'd say the majority of regular poster/readers here heard about this camera months ago.
