Live Q&A session now at local time (Singapore) 1.30am, 31 Jan 2010.
Am now going to gather the news and updates for you all.

- As the TS, I am in no way affiliated nor do I have any way to tell if what he says is credible.
- Might be a prank. Might not be. Lots of people thinking it is one.

Independent firmware being created for Canon HD video.

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/t2i-4k-firmware-q-a (external link)

http://www.canonrumors.com …ot-2k-3k-4k-on-a-t2i550d/ (external link)

Bits and pieces I took note of:

Able to shoot at 4k,3k,2k resolution. All 24p. No word on 25p or other framerates for high res.

Time limit @ 4k : 6 seconds
Time limit @ 3k : 30-40 seconds
Time limit @ 2k : 91 seconds

Why is there a time limit?
So that we do not "spoil the camera" (and prolly because of FAT32, 4 gb limit)

When is it going to be released for 550D?
Jan 1, 4pm EST

How about 5D2?
Jan 11

Will it damage your camera?
Supposedly not. Tested 300 times on 3 different 550D cameras.

How to put into camera?
Performs like magic lantern firmware - pop the file into CF card through computer + card reader, put it into camera, double tap the trashcan button and the firmware will be loaded up from CF.

Letterboxing guide
2.35 : 1 available. Does not actually crop, but allows operator to know exactly what operator is framing. Crop in post.

Future Framerates
120fps for 550D @ 720p same for 7D and 60D
60fps @ 1080p for 5D2

Not sure if it's legit or not. The guys said they'd charge US$50 for updates in the future, which is illegal because they're using the original firmware and just hacking them?

I wonder why they have not posted an example of 4k on YouTube The resolution is supported by YouTube, so why not....unless there is no such thing. (external link)

i think the fact they are planning on adding 60fps for the 5dmk2 is the most interesting thing.

makes me wonder if they can take that fps even further...

When you watch the Youtube vids, there was no "proof" of the hi-res filmwork. He had the camera, the hack, the "sales pitch" to show it, and the dude failed to show what everyone wanted to know.
Even 1 sec of hi-res.......

And you wonder why people get beat'n up these days. Idjits like this.

Body's : Canon EOS 6D + Canon EOS KISS x3 (500D)
Lens : EF-S 18-55mm+ EF 50mm + Canon70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM II

Rick rolling is sooooo 2008. I would have liked to see a more creative use of this prank. B+ for the concept but D- for the springing of the prank.
