I originally posted this in cornering the pros, but i hope i can get some feedback here as well.

I took this photo on friday. I had set the exposure comp to -1 2/3 i believe because my photos have been overexposed in the past. anyway, i didnt know how dark the photo was until i saw it on my computer. Lets see what all you ps gurus can do. please also include your process along with the photo.

Here's my try.... Changing curves, adding saturation, more brightness & contrast and then removing camera noise. All done in PaintShop Pro 9.

just a quick 'curves' adjustment layers in PS6. The guy standing a bit extra. Still needs some noise removal though. Not a brilliant result, but at least you see something.... Tricky to get the image brighter, yet not completely 'whashed out'
Curves used: overall (could make this a bit more): 14/52; 82/22; 150/55 on RGB channel, 173/255Red channel; 180/255 Green channel; 188/255 Blue Channel. Guy: 183/203 RGB Channel.
Well, see it as a learning experience :p

i reduse the noise and balenced the color a little i uped the exposure a little too

This is my first post so forgive me if it doesn't come out right.:)
Used Levels, Curves, Gaussian Blur, Unsharp Mask then then with the dodge tool lightened up the dark spots, afterwards increased saturation.

Just a newbie try with the gimp...sorry I can't tell you exactly how I did it. Mostly just playing it by "eye" with color and brightness/contrast changes.

Maybe I'll get better at explaining things....:o
