Thanks Scottes, Ginni77. This was a situation where I went against conventional wisdom, and allowed some clipping in the shadow areas. Using ACR, the shift-click trick allowed me to just remove the details behind the flower. This makes it look a little dark, but the flower pops out better. One of those "artistic" judgement calls, that bends the histogram rules.

I used to live in Rochester... don't miss the weather at all.
