We had a good waist-shoulder high swell hit us for a couple days between the heavy rains in San Diego. I took the opportunity to shoot surf to test out my new 400/5.6L + 7D combo. I had the lens mounted to a monopod with ball head. This was the first day of the swell with the wave a little smaller. I put the camera down on the 2nd day and paddled out before the rains hit us again.
There first 3 are a series of one turn that I thought was really cool. I cleaned the image up in post to remove some noise and cropped in a little to frame the pics better.
I tried to get creative in LR3 with these next three images. I'm torn between wanting to make just the surfer pop or creating a balance between the surfer and the wave.
Please CC. Let me know what I could do better. I've got a few more pics from that day that I'll have posted later.
