My first real attempt at RAW with the 7d.. I only shoot jpeg, so any comments are welcomed regarding this one. Not that I shoot jpeg - lol...
I made some slight adjustments in DPP and thought it came out ok. I did not straighten or crop, I was more concerned with getting it adjusted and exported to iPhoto, etc.

I took the same shot in jpeg and there was a noticeable difference (I didn't change any picture settings - saturation on the the 7d as I have in my 30d) from the finished RAW vs the jpeg. I also enhanced a duplicate jpeg and although a little more "pop" the RAW was better looking. I set C3 on my 7d to shoot RAW... See what happens as I really want to without getting discouraged.

Nikon D4, Sony RX10, Sony RX100.
Past Gear: (most recently) 5D3, L's, etc.

He also looks like he's 1-foot shorter and 3 years younger.

I say time to check birth certificates.

LOL. I think he's at the minimum age for this group. It's 5-7.

This kid must have some sort of natural talent... I saw him a couple years back at a work "family day" thing (I'm guessing he was about 3 at the time) and, I kid you not, he could throw a baseball sized ball up in the air a good 10 feet or so and catch it bare-handed like it's nothing. I don't think I've ever seen a kid that age able to do that... so unless I've been in some sort of cave all my life, I thought it was pretty impressive.

Beautiful colors indeed. Nice selection of angle to shoot it from making the light passing through it to accentuate the colors.

Thanks! I sat under the tree for two hours. I waited till the light was precisely penetrating the flesh of the fungi. It was worth it. I took several other pictures in that time. I also witnessed:

1) a bicycle wreck
2) a lost hiker
3) the lost hiker's friend looking for him
4) one very frustrated raccoon
5) a king snake

2 hours in nature. WAY more exciting than i thought it would be!

Well, here's one more that I tried to give a little different look to. By the way, what's a FUD forum?

Not that the others aren't, but that one is really nice, Gene. He's looking right at you and you caught a perfect spread on the wings. Very cool.
