For the sake of argument, it's also not about what the camera sees insomuch as it's what the photographer sees. If he takes a bracketed image of 3 shots (or 30 shots, et al) with the purpose of doing HDR in mind, then it's what he saw and it was what his intent was.

SOOC shots are cool and all, but in the end, photographer's vision also has to be taken into account. :)

First PAGE of this 2nd topic also has some PP'd images (though not HDR), and some of mine certainly are. Do you guys think we should take them down?

But that would apply to any camera, not just the 7D.

So what prevents the 7D thread from posting pictures that's been processed?
I can see why my post was circular. :D

If the images were taken with a 7D then they belong here. 3 bracketed images taken on a 7D and then used for HDR still originated from the 7D. Its a simple thread: 7D post pictures here not 7D SOOC pictures here. However, if you want to post SOOC images from the 7D they are welcomed because they are from the 7D ;)

Now on to posting more images taken with the 7D :D

My last input on it. First, I would defer to the originator of the thread. He started it with an idea of what he wanted. That's where it should be.

As for processing, as we all know, there is always SOME processing. But HDR is much more than simple processing. I would even agree with a lot of the little digs at things like selective sharpening, D&B, etc. All digital images need some sharpening. Nature of the beast. But, what will the camera itself produce for an image? People coming here to evaluate whether they want a 7D or not aren't going to be happy to know that the images they looked at to make that decision were based on so much extra software and tweaking. What can THEY reasonably expect to get out of their shiny new 7D if they get one and go out and learn a bit about how it works? To me, that's what this thread was supposed to be about. As I said, my opinion, and my last input on it.

I think this is where I was coming from. If I want to see what a 24-105L can do, I go to that thread for images posted for that lens. If I want to see user's shared photos with various processing, I go to the appropriate "processing" threads.

Here, I want to see what the 7D is capable of producing. (Probably why I keep looking up the EXIF data to see what lens was uses with the 7D, what exposure, metering, etc..)

To be honest, I have no idea what HDR is, but it sure looks like significant post processing and tells me nothing about the 7D capabilites.

As we have all said, just an opinion. We're all here to learn from other's experiences with various tools, i.e. the 7D.

WTF!

So you're saying an HDR image taken with a 7D isn't taken with a 7D because people who could possibly be interested in getting a 7D would never be interested in HDR photography. Because all HDR isn't really photography and either way looks exactly the same no matter what body is used to take the component pictures in the first place.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

No but that's what it means because he makes a cartload of presumptions.

1: 7D buyers/users don't recognise HDR images as "post processed"
2: 7D buyers/users are never interested in HDR
3: 7D buyers/users are never interested in developing their photograpy by using aditional tools like photoshop
4: This thread should only be geared towards people with a P&S familiarity with cameras.
