I hear people say that the 300D is soo so slow and such. What I want to know is what is slow about it. Is it the auto focus, the shutter delay or what? Would it be faster than my A75 or slower? Last newbee question is, would my old Canon AE1 lense fit the 300D?

some pics if you care to look

Frames per second is a little slow. 2.5

the slowness comes in the write speed to the CF card. I regulary wait for pics to finish. Since I installed the wasia hack and stepped the built in JPG in the RAW file down to small n crappy it's a touch better.

If you leave the camera stock and shoot in JPG it's not bad. Just slow compared to a 20D or a 1D.

As you can see in the sig I have one, it takes lovely shots, but will go to a good home soon when I switch to a 20 or a 5.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

There's no comparison to the speed of your A75. The whole advantage to a DSLR is that when you tough the shutter, it takes the picture.

When they say it's slow that usually refers to burst and write speeds. Of course if you're just casually taking shots, you will notice no problems with speed.

If you're taking bursts, you probably still wont have any problems... just have to give it a few seconds in between every 4 shots... not a significant amount of time though.

oh so it's the time after the pic is taken waiting to take the next that is slow? If so, how much time are you talking? Maybe one second? When you say 2.5 fps is that when you are in a burst mode? That seems fastest enough for me, but for how long will it take pictures at 2.5 fps?
