Hi. I just recently got LR3 for xmas. I have played around and really like it. However, i want to install some of these cool presets im seeing. But you have to unzip etc. I have no experience with zipping. Can someone recommend a good unzip software, and walk me through how to unzip, and import these files into LR3? Please?

1. If you're on a windows computer you should be able to use Windows Explorer to unzip. Simply right-click on the zip file and select either Open or Open with Windows Explorer. Then when the file opens, drag the contents to a location you can remember like your desktop.

2. There are several ways to install Lightroom presets. The easiest way is to open Lightroom and go to the Develop Module. Now go to the Presets Panel on the left side of the module, right-click on the existing "Lightroom Presets" folder and select New Folder. Once the New Folder is created, right-click on it and select "import" and follow the dialog boxes to navigate to the location where you stored the unzipped presets in step 1.

Ok, maybe Im ani idiot, but i just got around to doing this. And I have never unzipped anything other than..clothes..ahem. But Maybe I need the idiots guide. I want the "Velvia" preset. So, I "extract" it, which asks me where to extract to. I say desktop. when I go to LR3, I have the new folder, right click import, and the open dialog comes up, I navigate to desktop, find the "velvia" file, double click it and all i see is "no items match your search."..wtf.

What is the file extension on the extracted preset? It should be .lrtemplate.

An agtemplate file is a Mac file...if you're on a Windows computer you need to manually rename it to .lrtemplate.
