DKR: good call on getting your brother to pose for you. The figure really helps to anchor the frame. I really like the ripples in the water too. The ripples are actually in the sand beneath the water, it took me a minute to figure that one out too. Canon 7d, 6d, 100-400 4.5, 24-105, 70-200 2.8, 10-22, 28-135, sigma 30mm 1.4, Rokinon 8mm/14mm

I always keep in mind a dialogue that a fellow photographer (John Morrison) shared with me. He was standing behind his tripod when a guy passed by, and they had a conversation that went something like this... Passerby: "You look like you're waiting for something that's about to happen." Thanks for the explanation. Patience is usually something I can give (though I do occasionally stamp my foot and leave), but finding the right spot -- or getting there at the right time -- proves difficult.

I feel compelled to stress that it is a genuine photograph, not a composite. When I took this photo, the fog was moving just like waves in the ocean, rolling in and crashing against the hills. The waves moved much more slowly than water, but the overall effects were very similar. In this shot, you can see the closest 'wave' is breaking at the top, sending down some white spray. The 'surf' around the little village is where the last wave crashed already. Absolutely stunning! Tanya De Leeuw
