No ship Sherlock that you need an ABN ...Uni has been worth it :P

Jokes aside - I was told that in the situation where say photography is your second job and your primary income is more than xxx (somethign like 20 or 25K) then you must earn over a certain amount from your photography before you can start claiming for depreciation, expenses etc Then apparently once you start earning above the minimum threshold you can retrospectively claim these expenses. Are you able to verify that's the case?

I found out last year it depends on what the item costs. Anything above the $800ish works on a depreciation basis. As for the amount you earn, I earnt just under 10k from my photo/design stuff and they told me I had to use that method to claim for the lens I bought.

It's my understanding an individual can claim GST back as an individual without an ABN but I'm not sure on the process.

Luke - 1D4

John - that was taken on a hike deep in the urban jungle maze of the Sydney CBD - that's St Marys cathedral in the background - late in the stormy evening yesterday was walking past and the sun suddenly shot through the clouds bathing it in a golden hue.

hehe yeah... lovin' the speed and ergonomics. I really only need two bodies though so not sure yet if the 7D or a 1D3 gets to stay and play with the 1D4.
