Just correcting Justin's misunderstanding. If you only had a link to a Marketplace post, you were fine. It's when, in your post, you referred people's attention to that link that you went beyond allowable limits. And I'm familiar with Aussie slang. But Boss is right - promoting sales within the thread, and not accepting that such behaviour is not allowed, has gotten several participants in chat threads in trouble, and gotten a few of those threads closed.

Directing people to your sig. is a violation. It's posting in a thread to direct attention to your sale. The link in your signature, by itself, is acceptable. It's when you refer to it in a post that you get in trouble. And due to multiple, repeated, violations of the Marketplace rules in the sequence of the Aussie threads, you guys get special attention that you (as a group) earned through gross and flagrant violation of POTN rules on spam. I repeat, Boss was 100% correct in calling you out on your reference to your signature and Justin was 100% wrong in calling Boss on it, just as you were wrong in posting the reference to your signature within the thread.

The rules are not ambiguous. It doesn't matter whether people read signatures or not, the simple fact is that Pekka (who owns POTN, remember) will only permit you to mention a sale outside the Marketplace as a link in your signature to the thread that is within Marketplace. You may not post about an item you are selling anywhere but in the Marketplace, and you may not mention a sale in your signature except as a link to a thread in the POTN Marketplace.

User signature should go into the dedicated signature box and NOT in the actual post. Signature must not contain large fonts or distractive elements.

hmmm....

Posting about a sale outside Marketplace is a violation. Period. Is that so hard to understand? Makes no difference if it's pointing to your sig. or not. Specific sig. rules are here. And try getting cute with your sig. and you may just find yourself looking in from the outside, since you just admitted seeing that rule. Our patience isn't infinite. Ask some of your compatriots.
