Just an idea here:

Hunters are not exactly the most common guys to go off purchasing artful photographs of wildlife. On the other hand, maybe.

I believe those elk are never hunted. However, there is a lot of duck hunting nearby, and perhaps deer.

It would be an interesting experiment if some local photographer printed up some of these good ones, say at 8x10 at least, maybe 11x14, mounted and matted them, and showed up at some hunting tag inspection early one morning in hunting season. Set some prints out for display with a reasonable price tag. Have a small banner that reads "Local Wildlife Photos -- Here."

1. It can't hurt to try.
2. You might stumble into something good.
3. The hunters might tip you off to similar places to find wildlife.
4. The Fish & Game guys probably don't give a damn what you do.

Interesting idea Bob! I don't think they are hunted either, just ducks in that area.

You seem familiar with the local. Where are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Hi All, well its been a long time since I have been on this Fourm.

Saw the Elk picture just had to respond.

Hikin Mike,

My wife and I both go to Merced about 2 times a month would be interested in hooking up with another photographer to go out there. If interested let me know at
twi4@cv-access.com (external link) or (209) 612-1592.

We both got up on a fri. morn. about 5 am about two weeks ago wanted to get out there just in time for the sun to get up anyway I think I got your guy.

Skip in Patterson

I just took a good look at both pictures I am sure this is another elk but in same cage.

One more thing on the same day I took several other pictures have been messing with a web page thought I would put up some picture.

Understand this the pictures on the web page DO NOT do justice to the orginial picture due to the fact I have resized and croped etc. but you will get the idea http://www.cv-access.com/twilight/r/ (external link)

I drive by there everyday on my way to work. I'll be meeting some people from another board (DigitalGrin (external link)) Saturday the 24th at 6am. I'm sure one more person won't be a problem!
