I'm using one TT5 both on my Canon 7D or 5D MkII, and another TT 5connected to a 580EXII flash. Using the Utility program, I set Hypersync so that High Speed Sync starts at 1/640th. But when I shoot, the High Speed starts at 1/320 on the 7D and 1/250 on the 5DMkII. Any ideas why this may be happening would be appreciated.

Are you sure you committed the change? I just tried setting the same HSS shutter speed of 1/64 and that's exactly when HSS kicks in. How do I know that it's not kicking in at 1/500? Because there's a dark band at the bottom of the image at 1/500. Then at 1/640, when HSS kicks in, there is no longer a dark band. And it stays band free even with the much faster shutter speeds.

BTW, I'm assuming you have the latest PW Utility program (v1.35) and the latest PW ControlTL firmware upgrade (v5.2) installed, correct?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have checked to make sure the unit has the correct setting by unplugging it and then plugging back in again and checking the sync tab. And yes, on the latest utility and firmware.

I'll call Pocket Wizard tomorrow, just hoping to get an answer for a shoot today. Thanks again.

BTW, how did you determine that HSS was starting at 1/320 instead of 1/640 on, say, the 7D?

If it's from the EXIF info, mine says Hi-speed also but that doesn't necessarily mean HSS.
