some brief background info. been in and out of photography for a while, mostly get out cause i absolutly hate the pp i just suck at it, unless i'm in an actual dark room. well i'v decieded to stop complaining and deal with it and make it happen. i love and enjoy photography way to much to let this stop me. i currently don't have enough to get MBP but am saving. in the mean time my current viao will have to do the trick (cleaning up programs and harddrive). some specs below. i've currently have no edit software and my website hasn't been updated in a couple years. just curios if anyone else is using a viao or not, and how their luck has been. not sure what software i'm going to get yet, going to try and download the DPP software so i can get started i know it's not the best but it can hold me over untill i get home ( currently deployed to the sandbox), but going to try to get lightroom 3 I think. anyway if any viao users got some good info and you wouldn't mind leting me know please do.

With the Viao range of Sony make some great Laptops.

I use my Viao for location shoots / editing and printing. Whilst obviously not as fast as a modern desktop PC it is adequate.

Personally I would not plan to do high volume editing on a laptop - a decent spec desktop PC can be had for 1/2 the cost of a MBP unless you have to go Mac for some reason.

Don't forget - a Mac will do the same as a PC as you can generally run the same software on both - neither will improve your creativity.

I defiantly agree a desktop is the way to go for lots of work, i've had my viao for about a year, and just recently started pushing it so to speak with photo stuff, it seems to hold up for what i use it for. i also know the MBPs are sorta pricey, but I can get a desecnt deal through school or AAFES. have several friends who have them and absolutly love them, tried it out a bit and best buy and think i would really like it. unless i get a huge surplus and increase in workflow and clients i will get a MBP for the ease of convience and portability. if i do get a huge increase i will go with a desktop, but being military and only get a few shoots here and there i dont' see that happening

Maybe I'm biased because I know how to, but I can never justify the cost of a mac (laptop or desktop) when I can build my own. Heck, I have trouble buying laptops in general when I see a PC with twice the everything at the same price.

Granted, twice the everything includes weight/power consumption.
