Hello all. I would like to introduce myself to all of you. I purchased a G3 and the Speedlie 420EX flash less than 2 weeks ago and a previous owner of a Olympus D-40. The G3 is a beautiful piece of art in my book. I am not very familiar with the proper use of taking photos and all the settings and for that reason I just ordered the shortcourse book and E-Book for the G3. Hopefully it will teach me all the terms I need to know and settings to take "better" shots. I am using Photoshop 7.0 for editing and printing my pics. I calibrated my monitor using the Adobe Gama program and downloaded the latest profile for colors on Epson's website. I have a Epson Stylus Photo 890 printer. On screen the picture looks awesome but when I print, the picture looks not as good. The contrast seems to be off and in some cases the brightness not what i see on screen. I am using Epson 4x6 paper and replaced the ink cartridge. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong? Thanks

have you told the printer driver what type of paper you are using, and what resolution to print at ?

Try media type - glossy photo paper
quality - At least 720 dpi

Good luck

I use the 4x6 perforated Epson paper and I choose photo paper and print at 1440.. It is something like the calibration of monitor or maybe profile is not correct or something else. Dont know what.. Do you have an Epson photo 890 printer?

Hi
yes i have an 890, i use olmec 260 gloss and print at 1440 on photo glossy film, i've not tried the epson paper but i would have thought it would be ok.

try printing something out and then adjusting the monitor to look the same as the print... that way the next time you open a picture on screen it should match the printer ? in theory anyway!
Good luck
