While shooting more common birds during a darkish December day, this Grey-headed woodpecker (external link) landed close to my hide. It is quite a shy bird, so was happy to get this shot.

40D, EF100-400@285mm, 1/50s, f/6.3, ISO800, 420EX

Beautiful bird -- I don't believe we have any woodpecker with coloration near that.
