Thanks Randy. I think my son was being a bit facetious. Though neither he nor I have ever done any hunting, I have taught him how to handle a rifle very well. In fact, with his 16 year old eyes, he can see the target much better than I can. This deer was just standing there, obviously not feeling threatened by us.

Thanks to the rest of you, too, for your comments and suggestions. (And hello Frank - I'm still working on my pictures from Waterford Hills - hope to post some more soon.)

I have given this image one more "shot," so to speak, this time with just levels, contrast and USM. I didn't add any saturation or color correction. It's definitely better than the first one, and I think it's less blue than the second.
