The Flyers defeated the Wings 3-2 tonight at the Joe. Was great to see an Eastern Conference team! Flyers are looking good.

I really like how you captured the expressions of the players in photo 2 and 5. I like how there is an interesting story(background audience) with photo 5 and 8. The clarity of the shots is excellent.

Jan 03, 2011 20:56 | #5 Thank you for the comments...... Canon 1D MKIV with the Canon 70-200 2.8. I did shoot those through the holes in the glass. ISO 1600 at 3.5f at 800th for the shutter. I change the depth of field to obtain the blurry effect. Smiley900 wrote in post #11567394 These are great pictures!! I am a Wings fan myself but Philly is always a fun team to watch too. The clarity of the shots is excellent. Could you share how you were able to create such good hockey photos? what equipment and settings? Are you shooting through one of the holes in the glass? Have you ever had any issue with interference the puck/players shooting through the holes? In photo 8 there seems to be a deep DOF while in photo 2 the background is more blurred...I like both..how is this accomplished? I am guessing the lighting at the Joe is pretty decent too which might allow for a lot of options. Sorry for so many questions.....I am struggling with getting decent hockey shots on my own after a few tries. Nice work EOS-1D - II- III- IV-EF 16-35/2.8L 300mm f/2.8L IS 28-300 3.5-5.6 L IS USM- EF 15 2.8 FISH EYE- EF 70-200 2.8L IS USM
