How's it go, "Do or do not. There is no try." :)

No such saying when you live on the island and depend on ferries and work schedules.

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

How am I to go about submitting my judging results? I am good with the scoring criteria, just not sure who to send my results.

Let's say "several" means 3, 36 frames a roll, that would be 10 million frames and change (800k to be exact) for 300,000 rolls. Would I be exaggerating to say that is a whole lot of content captured through a tiny viewfinder!!! Well the Hassy wasn't tiny nor likely a viewfinder. Let's say the average cost per roll was $5 (10 million frames is not a month long project) that would be $1.5 million in film and developing costs forget prints.

I have shot less than 5000 frames of film and 5000 frames of digital. So what puzzles me endlessly (and not) is how we can be fairly well aligned in our POV towards imagery yet have vastly different photographic experience?

No matter a pleasure to converse with you (and everyone else here!!) on POTN.

OPPPS meant to say frames:oops:. Well ya figure that the old f-1s (1978) are 30 + years old and the newer F-1s I bought the first one in 83 so almost 30 years old and I shot and remember I was paying for very little film (working professionally for someone) and the film I was paying for was split between B&W and Kodachrome. I did shoot with them until 5 years ago. Probably 75% of what I shot through those F-1s was done professionally and at one time when I was in college I was working for a wedding factory and was shooting around 100 wedding a year. Ya figure 30 + rolls per wedding and I did that for over 4 years at that pace. That 12,000 rolls that over 400,000 frames in just 4 years and that doesn't count all the other stuff I was shooting too. I didn't get my blads until 1986 and even then I still shot a lot with my F-1s and continued to shoot with them until I went digital in Dec of 2005.

Hey Gail what about documenting the island you live on? But I know I sometimes have to get out of my area to really start seeing so even in a big target rich environment like Chicago and suburbs I have trouble getting out and shooting. Put me in the Keys or in New Mexico or out on an old 2 lane highway somewhere and i go nuts.

Well if I was a judge offering me a bride would not work -- it cost too much to get rid of the last one :-)

No worries Allen ... that is an impressive number of images to generate!

The really cool part is the one newer F-1 I purchased in 1983 went into the shop for the first time about 6 years ago. The shutter finally gave out. The others never had anything more than a sync connection. Both of my old 5cs had been in a couple of times and one was a bit over 3 years old and the other 5.

I don't own a camera long enough to have them break down and I have been through a lot of cameras. I surmise my photographic career as a 1st year student over 14 years! So much to know and do and it always comes back to the image, the portfolio, the vision, and experience.

Here's another great contributor (found in a different thread here on POTN)
http://photo.net/photos/nanasousadias (external link)

If it wasn't for digital I'd still be shooting with my F-1s or my 500 C/Ms for that matter. No need to change cameras. A light tight box, a shutter, an aperture, good glass, nothing better out there in medium format in the film world well maybe an old Leica M over the F-1s in 135 format.

I think both Adams and Weston had the same view cameras their entire photographic careers. I know my final camera will either be the M9 of maybe the M10 once its available. I don't need or really want FPS, auto exposure or video. I don't use any of those features now. I usually put my real $$$ in glass.
