Scoring is like this:

1 is awesome
2
3 average
4
5 not awesome

Jason C

And a 1 has maybe been shot by Adams, Gibson, Weston, Frank, Evans, Lange, Bourke-White. ;)

One could most likely get a 1-5 rating for the same image if there were a large enough audience to view the image.

The Rokinon looks better to me on that B&W above

The 85L has more detail wide open throughout the frame than the Rokinon.

That Rokinon doesn't look bad AT ALL, considering the 85L is about 8x more money. And the contrast looks really good on the trucks too. I guess it just depends on how one feels about MF.

How's the focusing ring? When I had that Zeiss 21 Distagon I was really liking how nicely the focus ring operated - much better than any Canon lens I've tried.

Mind you, there has been DPP post applied to the mailtruck images (standard, contrast +1, shadow -1, usm 2,8,3--all other values at zero), but the parking lot images do have identical post.

The focus ring is slightly stiff.

Okay, truck pics. Left is a no post neutral file, right has DPP applied as described in my prior post:

And here are the parking lot images, neutral files with no post post...

Matching WB was impossible, so I sampled the same precise area on the warning sign for both images. Also, from what I can tell is that there was more overcast skies for the ROK image, and the 85L image the overcast was thinning and the sun was rising...left of frame.

Rokinon 85/1.4

How's this for homebrew wide angle MF? Cheap too and I bet it works rather well.

I am back. Did you all miss me?

Had a great time in Myrtle Beach. Addy had a blast hanging in the pool everyday.

She was cutting a couple teeth so we had to deal with that....fun fun fun.

Hope you all had a great week. The Rok 1.4 looks killer...
