You have to go top notch for the bamboo tho, it gets pricey. There are lesser quality bamboos that dent and pit easily.

I really don't know on this one, but I have found a similar thing here

Yeah, I read that one as well. Reading the Vanoc stuff it seems they were more concerned about distribution rather than the sale of one or two images directly to a consumer. I wonder if I can transfer the responsibility along with the right to print the image for this one use.

[CENTER]My weekend went with a BANG......:cry::cry:
I'd much rather have a spanner in my tyre

Ouch! That sucks!

As for the floor, I'm thinking bamboo, damn the cost. It would be worth it in the long run.

Just digg'n out from a crazy day yesterday. (crazy couple a weeks) A morning shoot for a bi-annual magazine I've been shooting for a while and a fund raising event last night.
Heres a couple shots from the AM if anyone is interested (very quick edits)

YAY! :) My PC is back up and running again! Woo Hoo.... Didn't cost me a penny to fix either.. I get lucky sometimes...

I had a friend check it out and tell me my video card fan was going out.. so I took it back to "geek squad" since I know nothing about how to fix stuff.. and the nice guy at the counter took the card out.. opened up the casing and it had some dust bunnies.. so he cleaned it, and put it back in the machine case.... and checked my drives... while I waited and we were chit-chatting... so nice.. I went to the bakery afterwards and brought him some cookies. lol...

ANyway.. nice pics posted on here the last few days.. :) Love the "wild child hair" Geno.. lol...

And Hardwood Floors are every girls dream.. lol.. I keep arguing with my checkbook for aquiring some..

Sorry about your Car Robuk..:( Glad you are okay though. :)

okay people, I need some help (no, not mentally, too late for that...)

After looking at what people have been talking about, regarding swapping prints, I thought that I may as well actually print something out for once (I haven't yet....shocking!).

Now I am aware of the "standard" sizes being; 8x10, 11x14, 16x20 etc.

But the photos that come out of ye olde 40D are in a 2:3 ratio. So what do you do before you print? Do you print in an 12x18 or equivalent, and frame it in an 11x14 / 16x20 frame? or do you amend the photo to be the same ratio as the frame?

That brings on the next question of..

Do you add a border to your photos to correct the ratio, or crop accordingly (or get a mat that will sort that out?

This whole printing thing is all new to me :)

I have made 12x18 prints. I usually crop the photo to the specific size I want. Matting only needs to overlap slightly. The 2:3 ratio for me is too long and I almost always crop. I try to do that in my mind as I shoot but sometimes forget and fill the whole frame.

It's a choice you need to make -- some shots are better at a different aspect ratio, but you should be the one who decides that. I have prints at 11x14, 12x16 and 12x18 hanging on my walls, but it's up to me which image fits which size.

Matting comes in standard sizes, or you can have mattes cut (at a price) -- again, it's up to you. And, if all else fails, you can print a "frame" to fit in a particular size, although I've never done that myself.

I have never had someone print for me, always did sizes myself, but only up to 8X10.now the cost of ink is prohibitive to doing that anymore.

Ah yeah, I have a bunch of "full bleed" 13x19 prints laying around, but they are more of a pain to frame!

Also full bleed 8.5x11 prints, along with 8x10 -- they are all coffee table fodder to me.

But all need to be layed out/cropped with the proper dimensions.

I always crop to print size. I like printing large prints of my kiddos, so I have a handful of 16x20's hanging around here.

I also like to crop in odd sizes depending on the image. Lately I have been liking something along the lines of a 16x9 or 16x10 format. Haven't printed anything in that size yet though.

Love the aspect ratio of a 5x7.

and when printing larger, you can reduce the resolution down from the recommended 300dpi and get a great looking image. I've used dpi as low as maybe 150 on a 24x36 and it looked fine.

Usually I print around 240-300 dpi depending on the image.

:)

Kristy, I use the 16X9 crop in my photos alot more as well.I like the expanse it gives.
