Ill chalk it up to blind squirrel finding a nut.
But, when in video mode, is the shutter is slower, allowing the long capture. Or Faster. Need to do more reading of the manual.

Woman swinging a sparkler, long exposure captured the swing and the flames. Composition is what it is.

I know the woman is out of focus but I was focused on the end of the sparker, which is several feet long when combined with her arm length

I guess it might've looked better if the girl was right behind the fireworks instead of from a side view shot, but that's my take though.
