Canon 70-200 F4 IS with 1.4x TC

Just got my new Canon 70-200 F4 IS and wanted to take some test shots. What do you think? I did some minor PP, just auto white balance and auto tone.

It looks sharp, just not sure how my old 70-300 is usm would have faired on the same shot....

That's not a shot where the 70-200 advantages would be utilised.

what f stop did you use? and with the extender do you need to set your focus point to a single point dead center?
And with that lens is it a constant f5 or f5.6?

I think the focus is on the back rather than in the front. I have a hard time judging the sharpness. May be in the same league as 70-300mm is.

If the tc is a reporting type, the aperture is at least shown f/5.6, so i don't think f/5 is possible.

strange post processing, should be much sharper

If you did not use a shutter speed which is faster than 1/(FL*1.6), or if you did not have the camera on a tripod, it is pointless to speculate about how sharp the combination of extender+zoom, because you will have photographer-induced shake in the photo!!!

That might be why it is so hard to find anything truly sharp in the photo.

it was set at f5.6, this one was cropped allot so not sure of the exact focus point.

weather was pretty cold and gloomy, no good sunlight at all.

i suck at pp, i also noticed edit pics from my lenovo laptop always look much worse than my VAIO.

next investment will be a nice monitor
