I used to do almost all studio work... then switched to weddings. I've gotten pretty darned good at mixing ambient light with bounce flash... and will continue to do that in fast-paced situations (using ettl), however, for things like formals and when I have a bit more time, I just ordered some stuff for my 2 580 ex ii's... couple of stands, hot shoe adapters, Radiopopper jrx's (wrestled quite a bit withe whether not not to get the px.. .ultimately decided not to). , couple of umbrellas (i used to use softboxes in the studio, but will start out with umbrellas at this time mainly due to funds), and Smith-Victor pg250s (on advice from a book; not sure how that one will work out, but hey it was really cheap).

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how much i like this setup. Before, I had about 6 ab800's, meter, softboxes all kinds of stuff and could do just about anything in the studio... but after a long break from photogrpahy and now getting back into it, I'm going with a more "mobile, portable" approach I can take on location easily.

Anyone else using a similar setup?

The JRs Trasmitter doesn't stay on the camera that well. Find a good way to strap it down or else it may just fall off... I've lost one of them because of this. Ordering the PX transmitter in the next week or two.
