I stumbled across Power Retouche Software ... a plugin to Photoshop. It has multiple capability: B&W conversion, Black definition, cropping - Golden Rule, Tonned Photo, Color Fringe Remover, Lens Correction, Soft filter, Sharpness editor, Equalizer, Film Grain, Radial Density Corrector, Vignetting, Dynamic Range compressor, Graduated Color, Illumination Editor, etc. etc. (see the web site for more of the softwares capability)

My question is " Does anyone have this software and would like to make a recommendation / review of it before I actually purchased it "

Thanks

It's actually been around for a long time. (Look at the dates of the reviews.) Why it's not more popular, I can't say.

Chas ... I saw that the reviews were far back in 2008 and 09. The fact that it doesn't seem to be popular is the reason why I have posted this topic.

I heard of this software years ago and seriously considered it. I wound up instead buying a full Adobe design collection and later on, the NIK collection. Something about the software didn't convince me of its value or persuade me to buy it.

Chas ... I originally spotted it in a search for the Golden Rule cropping tool. It looks neat. Then I saw the "other" stuff the software is capable of.

Apparently ... few people have it or are aware of it.

I have it but I rarely use it except for the Golden Section. And even then native Photoshop has many of the features that were unique when Power Retouche was first released.... PS CS5 has Rule of Thirds and Grids overlays for cropping. Power Retouche has more like Golden Circle, etc. but you need to duplicate your image, then use the Transform tool....its kinda kludgey.

Does anyone know of software plugin that mimics the Golden Rule for cropping. I've been obsessed lately with photo presentation using the Rule of Thirds, but became interested in the Golden Rule from a recent article I read.

DPP++ provides 'Golden', along with 'Thirds' and 'Diagonals'.

300Dplus ...thanks for the information. It took me a while to get a handle on this DPP++. It says Version 6.2. When I looked at my current Canon DPP Version, it said 3.9.2. I said to myself "self" - how did I miss all the versions from 3.9 to 6.2

Then I realized it was the DPP++ that is version 6.2. It looks very interesting.

How long has this add-on been around ?

Does the Version 6.2 get automatically installed with the Canon DPP software program?

I see there is a DPP++ forum - how long has that been around for?

I was really excited about the DPP++ until I saw this note "Sorry Mac Users", DPP++ is only for windows based systems". What a disappointment.

POTN user yb98 has been developing DPP++. It isn't directly connected to Canon in any way, it's an individual effort to supplement DPP with added value. You can contact him for any help and to support his efforts.
