I haven't really done much with the pop up flash on my T1i since I purchased it. I recently took some pictures using it after the birth of our new grandson and wasn't very impressed. Not able to justify the cost of the Canon flashes (yet), I opted for the Yongnuo YN-465 after reading several posts. I received it today and immediately mounted it to snap a few shots. Set it on E-TTL and it seems to be much better that the pop up. I was curious if someone with experience using this unit may be able to provide any tips, suggestions or advice using it. Also what would a typical range will it be effective?

Thanks for any help.

just keep reading the threads here - bouncing, off camera, diffusers, etc. - an external flash is versatile for many situations

Learn how to use Flash Exposure Compensation, FEC. This is the key to good eTTL pictures. And do the suggestion above and read the older posts to this site. The stickies at the top are full of knowledge.

I'm on day 31 and STILL waiting for my Yongnuo YN-465 to arrive. Brutal shipping! How long did you wait for yours?

I received my YN-560 directly from Yongnuo in less than 2 weeks.
Does anyone know if China has a National holiday about this time of year. It seems like everything coming from China is on backorder.

I purchased on E-bay from seller (photnicn2009) on 12/21/10 and estimated delivery was from 1/6/11 thru 1/20/11. I received it on 1/4 which was well ahead of planned dates. I am fully satisfied with the transaction.
